It's only been 7 months between posts this time, so I'm not quite as tardy as last time. To be fair, though, the only reason I'm using this technology right now is because I have a video I want to share with Theresa, and it's WAY too big to email. I'm just hoping I can figure out how to attach it properly, so it can actually be viewed online. Wish me luck!

Wow...how did nearly 3 and half years go by?? Since the last post, we've moved from Erie to Paris, and Paris to Houston. Oh yeah, we added a little boy to the family too...Matthew is nearly 19 months old now...we call him "our permanent Parisian souvenir.

I just discovered the link to this again in my email inbox -- had forgotten all about it. Somewhat timely, I guess, since Theresa just went to a "how-to" class for blogging a few days ago. Since I last posted, Facebook and Twitter have exploded, so I'm thinking this might be a bit passe now. We'll see how much I keep up with this...no promises, though!

November 15 Update

Wow...time sure does fly! The first snow of the season in Erie occurred last week (while I was in in Kansas City), and the girls have started their second season of dance class at the Little Dance Studio. Life is good. Here is a Halloween photo of the girls and and the rest of the kids in the cul-de-sac.

In mid-October, Theresa and the girls came with me on a business trip to Tarrytown, NY and then we took a week off to go to the house in Maine. We thought it would likely be well past the "leaf peeping" season, but we lucked out. Apparently because there was a warm, dry fall, the leaves took their sweet time changing colors -- much to our delight. Here is a photo from the dock on Sand Pond. The picture doesn't really do it justice, but take our word for it when we say it took your breath away.

Finally, I've tried to upload a great little video of Evelyn helping Amanda to practice the piano...hope it turns out well.

June 3 Update

Hello. It's been a bit over a month and I'm just getting back to this. Showed it to Theresa, but she wasn't wild about the general idea of blogging. Ah well, think I'll add a few more things, just for grins and see where it goes.

We've had a busy month+ since my last post...the girls have finished dance class and had their recital at the local Warner Theater; Aunt Nancy visited...one of the many great photos she took is to the left.

The house in Maine is still in progress, and we hope to get up there to take our first real look in the next few weeks. The appliances are ordered, and the last payment has been made to the builder ... so now we just need to firm up our summer travel plans to take advantage of the place! Have included an updated photo, although you can't really tell much of a difference from the previous shots.

More to follow in the future...between business trips, high school reunions, and vacation plans, it's gonna be an interesting few months. Stay tuned for all the details.

New House in Maine

After owning the lot on Sand Pond for 8 years, we've finally got the house in Maine underway.

The lot is just a few miles from the Brett Farm, where we got married, which is pretty cool. We got started in mid-March, and hope to be in by the middle of May. However, with the recent snowstorms and "spring Nor'easter", it may be a bit later than we'd anticipated. Here is a photo of the outside at the beginning of April. It looks pretty small from this angle, but will about about 1700 square feet on the first floor, along with an open loft above the great room. There's a full walk-out basement that (hopefully) we will finish someday.

Here are few interior photos. The house is looking pretty rough at this point, but we are seeing the possibilities, not the cracks in the drywall. The kitchen will have a window that will allow whoever is working at the sink to look out at the pond, and enjoy the beautiful scenery and wildlife.

The flooring throughout most of the first floor will be a Maple laminate that should help to keep things light and bright...and keep the dogs sliding around most of the time to boot!

Finally, we'd be remiss if we didn't have at least one shot of the view from the future deck...looking forward to lots of pond-side picnics with relatives, friends, neighbors (and an occasional black fly or two...)
