New House in Maine

After owning the lot on Sand Pond for 8 years, we've finally got the house in Maine underway.

The lot is just a few miles from the Brett Farm, where we got married, which is pretty cool. We got started in mid-March, and hope to be in by the middle of May. However, with the recent snowstorms and "spring Nor'easter", it may be a bit later than we'd anticipated. Here is a photo of the outside at the beginning of April. It looks pretty small from this angle, but will about about 1700 square feet on the first floor, along with an open loft above the great room. There's a full walk-out basement that (hopefully) we will finish someday.

Here are few interior photos. The house is looking pretty rough at this point, but we are seeing the possibilities, not the cracks in the drywall. The kitchen will have a window that will allow whoever is working at the sink to look out at the pond, and enjoy the beautiful scenery and wildlife.

The flooring throughout most of the first floor will be a Maple laminate that should help to keep things light and bright...and keep the dogs sliding around most of the time to boot!

Finally, we'd be remiss if we didn't have at least one shot of the view from the future deck...looking forward to lots of pond-side picnics with relatives, friends, neighbors (and an occasional black fly or two...)
